Good read. I think an important function of education is to help you experience friction to help you realize what builds you and what burdens you. An under discussed aspect of that, is the experience of learning things that aren't yet interesting. The obvious benefit is to help find more interests. But that's not the only benefit. The experience can also help you understand that interest can develop and change - they are not fixed - and that helps you separate your interests from who you are. Being able to do this is the key to liberty in the age of AI.
