Hi, I’m Sam Vuong!

I’m a founder and writer, based in Toronto. I build cultural infrastructure for agency and autonomy, and live at the intersection of tech and the humanities.

I write about ideas that challenge or outgrow traditional systems like education, human skills worth preserving in the age of AI, and making sense of the cultural zeitgeist.

A few of my most popular pieces are on the culture of ambition, the value of self-imposed friction in a frictionless world, and how to think about work.

About Me

I’m currently building Flourish with my husband and partner in crime, Karel Vuong. Flourish helps people host IRL salons and make conversation a ritualized practice. We’re also the founders of Atrium, a discovery platform for alternative education.

My path hasn’t been linear. I started my career in education before marketing in tech and crypto. Across industries, I’ve found myself spending time in communities and subcultures forming outside established systems.

Oh, and I’m a former Montessori kid. I talk about that formative experience often and find a lot of contemporary value in Montessori’s philosophies.

Second Nature is an ode to these experiences.
